The end of 2011 the year of Surprises.

Good Day

Teresa and I wish everyone a Happy, Healthy, Safe and Prosperous 2012.  Remember to keep smili'n you will make someone else's day and find the small stuff not so big.  Cheers.

While 2011 comes to an end 2012 will start and bring us the chance for new beginnings, moving past the old and onto the new.  People are given the chance to change with New Year Resolutions. Since I have already quite smoking - going on 10 months - I am going to focus on overall health and fitness over the next 12 months.  Ontop of Health and Fitness I would also like to increase awareness about the importance of Cancer Screening, the impact the Canadian Cancer Society has on those going through the fight, and to remember that Cancer not only effects those diagnosed, but those who provide care.

To those brave enough to tackle the New Years Resolutions, stay strong and focused.  Success can be yours.  I look forward to hearing what some of you are going to do.

Here is a quick review of my 2011.

January - lots of tests to find out what was causing the pain in the lower back which started Christmas Day 2010.  - A wonderful trip to Kitchener by Train and a Surprise birthday party thrown by Teresa and friends.  Was a great visit.
Feb - finally a diagnosis of what was wrong Stage 4 Rectal Cancer and advised I would be starting Chemo Treatment asap.  Went for my IV Port Implant. AKA the Power Port.
March -  began Chemo treatments and decided to enter a team into Relay for Life. Cousin Matt came out for a quick visit.  Was a fun weekend.
April - treatments are underway and starting to feel better, no longer need pain medication.  Had a great visit with Sherri and Rich from KW.
May -(busy month)  held a Steak night fundraiser for relay for life was a fun night, first time out in a couple of months.  Brother Chris came to visit for a few days, we had a great time.  Looking forward to his next visit.
Was also surprised by a fundraiser held in Kitchener - Kick Cancer in the Ass. Was greatly surprised to see everyone there and the financial support this provided Teresa and I while adjusting to being off work.  There are no words to express my humble appreciation here.
June - Erin comes to visit and What another surprise?  Tony & Barb, Ryan & Barb surprise me with a visit for the weekend and to join us in Relay for Weekend.  Had a great time and helped make the event really special for me.  Not sure if another Relay for Life event will ever have the same impact.
July - a low key month we enjoyed the summer and our updated back yard oasis.
August  - was a continuation of July as we got ready for September.  had an amazing week visit as Chris Nancy Brit and Joe drove from KW to see us.  Was a truly joyful visit for me.
September - Trip to PEI and Kitchener.  Tuna fishing was awesome 900lbs says it all.  Surprising Mom for her birthday was spectacular, happy we made her day.  Then a small surprise for Rich on his birthday then Sherri and Rich at their engagement party.  Had an overall wonderful time on this trip. I may say the highlight of the year
October - decided to adopt a dog from the Humaine Society and Keimo was added to our family.
November - Keimo comes home and is a pleasant addition to our home. He is a comical, cute little ankle biter with great personality.
December - Treatment troubles with the Power Port Implant and determined to discontinue it's use.  A new IV PICC line was inserted. Treatments restart.

Had a great Christmas weekend.

Cheers to a Happy New Year. and Love, Health, Family and Friends.

Keep smilin
