Is NEW-vember over yet?

Good day everyone.

Fish fact:  A starfish doesn't have a brain.  Hmm - so being called a starfish is not a compliment.   and the lung fish can live out of water for as long as four years!  Now that is real determination.

All is well.  Treatments have been kicking a little bit harder, sick as can be on the weekend of treatment and a few days to recover.  All in all though - we are good.  Looking forward to our upcoming review in a couple weeks.  Fingers crossed there are going to be good conversations with my oncologist.  2 words remission and surgery.  Followed by smiles.

Halloween was fun took a couple of days to carve some pumpkins and decorate the outside walk way.  Under the front steps was a motion sensor string of strobe lights which sounded some creepy music.  Apparently this scared a couple of kids as they would not go up the stairs.  Mission accomplished.  and then the best part - homemade pumpkin seeds - 3 days to make and well worth the effort.

November I am changing to NEW-vember and hoping the old saying of things happen in 3 hold true this time.

To start with what is NEW

1) New fish.  A few months ago we had populated our aquarium with some Gourami's and some Angel Fish  though after a few weeks there seemed to have been an issue and they all floated belly up.  So we have been keeping an aquarium with only a lonely Pleco.   So a posting was put up for 3 gold fish - which needed to be rescued from a potential flushing.   So we now have 3 NEW to us gold fish - which we have named the 3 stooges and are rather LARGE.  The biggest, Curly, measures almost 10 inches.  Larry and Moe are smaller, though all three get into trouble tearing up my plants and disturbing all the rocks.

2)  New dog.  We adopted a little Shi Tzu from the Humaine Society.  His name is Keimo and will be coming home on Monday.  He had to go in for neutering and kept for a few days to be sure all is good.  We are really looking forward to the new addition to our home.   I will post a few pictures once he is home.

3)  New to us car.  The old Montana Mini Van was enroute to it's last days and time had come when the dollars to be spent out weighed the value of the 4 wheel p.o.s.car.  The number of parts in the trunk and those no longer functional out numbered attached and working.  So back to a car payment we go.  2010 Kia Soul is now parked in the drive way.  Some great fuel savings and , Ryan I am sure will appreciate this, a car with Mood lighting is a must.  The Soul Blazen not only has Red and Black interior, the door speakers have red lights which change by music or simply just stay on to generate a cool mood.  (no dancing hamsters though)

Stats Can:  Cancer is the No 1 killer in all provinces in 2008
All the more reasons to encourage prevention and build awareness.  Supporting events and research through out the year is a small part we can all do.   Supporting can be as complicated as participating in events such as MOvember or Relay for life or as simple as passing information and increasing awareness.  Half the battle is knowing - the rest is really out of our control.  Leaps and bounds are being made every day in prevention, screening and treatment.  With each of us putting just a little bit in - we can keep the momentum going on kicking cancer in the ass.

Cheers - keep on smilin.  Oysters would be jealous of your pearlies.
